Whenever I travel, I make sure to try the local wines, especially when paired with the local food. Often, a restaurant will serve wines that really bring out the best in their dishes, and vice versa. This 2017 Medina Sangiovese in Valetta, Malta was not the best wine I've ever had by any stretch, but it complimented the dish and gave me an idea of their local flavors. Malta is not world renown for their wine, but it's still fun to try and appreciate different tastes from around the world. While not every wine selection is a winner, it helps to refine your palate and know what quality means to you, the consumer.
