Wine Spotlight: 2015 R. Stuart & Co Autograph Pinot Noir

2015 R. STUART & CO AUTOGRAPH PINOT NOIR, WILLAMETTE VALLEY, OR

After receiving my beautiful New World Pinot wine glasses by Riedel, I knew I had to break them in with a stellar Pinot from Oregon, specifically the 2015 Autograph from R. Stuart. Fun fact, owner Rob Stuart worked with Riedel to design the New World Pinot Noir glass for the Pinots coming out of Oregon due to their beautiful expressions that weren’t properly appreciated with the current glasses on the market. The “tulip” glass that many know and love is a product of Rob and others like him taking old world grapes and making something new and delicious here in America. I had the privilege of being introduced to Rob Stuart as he is an old friend of my uncle, and we were treated to an exceptional afternoon talking wine, winemaking, and learning about the journey each vintage goes through to become the wines we enjoy. Thanks again to Rob and his staff for a memorable experience as his hospitality is truly unmatched.

As for the 2015 Autograph, it begins with a beautiful tawny appearance in the glass, ruby red with a brown tinge at the rim. Red fruit on the nose including cherry and strawberry, vanilla, lavender and rose petals. The red fruit continues on the palate with balanced acid and nice fine tannins resulting in a long finish of citrus and fruit. I personally paired it with a brown bourbon sugar pork chop and salad, but it easily pairs with some heavier meats, or even a fresh salad or veggies. Better as it ages, I’d recommend 5+ years in the bottle for best results.
